Esthetic alignment of anterior teeth in elderly patients by orthodontic treatment: Case reports

Abstract

|
Today, the demand for esthetics in the elderly patients has increased and the need for orthodontic treatment is expected to continue to increase. Although limitation for orthodontic treatment exist in elderly patients due to their prior history of periodontal disease and progressive periodontal disease, the application of delicately controlled biomechanical force yields favorable clinical results. This case study reports successful clinical outcome of three patients with fixed rthodontic appliance. Esthetic alignment was obtained by partial orthodontic treatment and interproximal reduction was accompanied in two cases. Esthetic alignment of anterior teeth was successfully achieved without alveolar bone loss.
